Senior Java Developer – Java 21 / Jakarta EE

Location: Jönköping, Sweden

Working Method: Hybrid / Partial Remote

Assignment Period: 2026-10-31 to 2027-06-30, with possible extension until 2030-12-31

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer for a long-term consulting assignment involving the development and maintenance of large-scale web applications. The role focuses primarily on backend development, search functionality, microservices, and modern software engineering practices.

You will work in an agile team, contributing to solution design, technical planning, testing, and continuous improvements in a modern development environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain applications using Java 21 and Jakarta EE.

  • Work with JPA, EJB, REST APIs, and microservice architecture.

  • Contribute to technical design, planning, and solution development.

  • Perform unit, integration, load, and performance testing.

  • Work with CI/CD, Docker, and automated deployment processes.

  • Support test environments and system monitoring.

  • Ensure security, availability, authorization, and traceability.

Required Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience corresponding to competency level 4.

  • Several years of experience with Jakarta EE, including JPA, EJB, and REST, in large web applications.

  • Several years of experience with microservice-based architecture.

  • Experience with Docker or similar container technologies.

  • Experience with IntelliJ, Maven, Jenkins, Git, and SonarQube.

  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.

  • Experience working with mission-critical systems in large, complex organizations.

  • Excellent spoken and written Swedish.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Lead Developer or in a similar role.

  • Experience with legacy Java systems, JSP, and JavaScript.

  • Experience with load and performance testing tools such as Grafana k6.

  • Experience with monitoring and system observability.

  • Frontend development experience, preferably with Angular.
