Security Engineer

Are you a hands-on security engineer who enjoys being close to the code, the systems, and the teams building them? At Telavox, security is not a gate at the end of development. It is an embedded capability that enables us to move fast, safely, and at scale.
Telavox is a fast-growing digital telco that combines the reliability of telecom with the agility of SaaS across Europe and across the globe. As our platform grows, security becomes a force multiplier, not just protecting what we build, but actively enabling engineers to ship better and safer software every day.
We are growing our Security Engineering team and looking for a Security Engineer to join our engineering organisation. You will work side by side with our Security Engineering Lead, sharing the same mission and many of the same activities, and bringing your own depth and perspective to the team. Together you will make security a built-in property of every system we ship, by making the secure way the easy way for every engineering team.
About the jobAs a Security Engineer, you are part of the engineering execution layer that makes security real across the Platform organisation. You work across product and platform teams, building paved roads, secure defaults, and standards that teams adopt as their own, instead of doing every team's security for them.
You are a close partner to the Security Engineering Lead, who sets direction and priorities for the function. You complement each other: you share the work, challenge each other's thinking, and divide focus areas based on where your strengths are deepest. You also help bridge the gap between the CISO's strategic direction and day-to-day engineering reality, turning security goals into concrete engineering outcomes.
Your day-to-day work includes:
Build and evolve paved roads that make secure choices the default, such as vulnerability management workflows, secrets handling, and secure-by-default patterns in CI/CD
Work cross-functionally with engineering teams, understanding their context and helping them adopt security improvements in a way that fits how they build
Own and evolve vulnerability management, SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, and secrets scanning across our code and services, and make sure findings actually get fixed
Translate risks and requirements from customers, operators, audits, and the risk register into concrete, sized work for the right teams, and follow up so it lands and stays landed
Triage and coordinate responses to emerging threats: assess severity, involve the right teams, and drive issues to resolution
Share ownership of the security roadmap with the Security Engineering Lead, and take clear ownership of the areas where your experience is strongest
The role is based either at our new HQ in Malmö or in our Stockholm office.
About youYou are a pragmatic, hands-on security engineer who enjoys working closely with engineering teams and across team boundaries. You are comfortable moving between code, tooling, and architecture discussions, and you care about making security scalable, practical, and usable. You are just as comfortable working independently as you are in a small team where you and a colleague share responsibility for a broad area.
You believe security works best when it is distributed, automated, and embedded, not bolted on in the end. You lead through explanation and good defaults rather than gates and approvals.
You think ahead about what embedded security looks like when engineering is increasingly AI-augmented: agent credentials, MCP and tool-use boundaries, and secure-by-default workflows for code that humans and models write together.
We are looking for someone with:
A hands-on background in software or platform engineering, with real comfort in the terminal, able to run scans, inspect output, and file a PR when needed
At least 3-5 years of professional experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or a closely related technical role
Demonstrated experience with the security tooling landscape, such as vulnerability management, SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, and secrets scanning, understanding trade-offs, not just installation
Experience building shared tooling, standards, or paved roads that other engineering teams adopt
A teaching and enabling mindset: sharing knowledge, running hands-on deep-dives, and leaving capability behind rather than creating dependency
Strong ability to collaborate with engineers across teams, influence without formal authority, and translate security risks into practical engineering work
A collaborative way of working with a lead and peers, including sharing context, dividing focus areas, and giving and receiving honest feedback
Fluent English, written and spoken. Swedish is a plus
